Earlier we shared a guide on how to jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 with snowbreeze, but sn0wbreeze developers released Beta version at that time. Final version of sn0wbreeze has now been released and is available for download. For those who don't know, Snowbreez is another tool for jailbreaking iPhone and iPod Touch on firmware 3.1.2, it's similar to other jailbreaking tools like blackra1n, redsn0w. Jan 22, 2010 - Download Sn0wbreeze to Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 Firmware. Jailbreaking using sn0wbreeze are exactly similar to the beta release, which was.
sn0wbreeze is a tool used to create custom IPSWs to restore, similar to PwnageTool. Can be used to jailbreak and unlock when making the custom IPSW. This is a GUI of XPwn for Windows written in C# (previously Visual Basic) and is developed by iH8sn0w. It is released under GPL v3 license, and previous versions source are available on GitHub, however this violates the GPL.
To restore to custom firmwares you will need a version of iTunes <11.1. Now iTunes >11.1 Apple rehashes the all the firmwares.

iH8sn0w has released a new version of Sn0wbreeze – v2.3 Beta 4, which will allow users to use Ultrasn0w to unlock iPhone 4 baseband 01.59.00 and iPhone 3GS basebands 04.26.08 / 05.11.07 / 05.12.01 / 05.13.04.
iH8sn0w had released Sn0wbreeze to jailbreak iOS 4.3, the unofficial PwnageTool for Windows last weekend.
Sn0wbreeze 2.3 beta 4 includes the following changes:
- ultrasn0w now works for basebands (01.59.00 / 04.26.08 / 05.11.07 / 05.12.01 / 05.13.04 / 06.15.00)
- ultrasn0w is NOT compatible with the folllowing basebands! (02.10.04 / 03.10.01 / 04.10.01 / 05.14.02 / 05.15.04)
- Upgrading your iPhone 3GS baseband to the 06.15.00 iPad baseband hack to unlock MAY cause you to lose your GPS!
Sn0wbreeze is useful for users who have their iPhone on older baseband (iPhone 4 baseband 01.59.00 and iPhone 3GS basebands 04.26.08 / 05.11.07 / 05.12.01 / 05.13.04) and want to unlock their iPhone as it allows users to create custom iOS 4.3 firmware file that is pre-jailbroken, which can be used to preserve the baseband from getting upgraded using the “Baseband Preservation Mode” so that it can be unlocked using Ultrasn0w. You can check your iPhone’s baseband via Settings –> General –> Modem Firmware.
Sn0wbreeze 2.3 beta 4 supports only a tethered jailbreak currently so users will have to use iBooty to boot into jailbroken state (which is installed on your desktop after running Sn0wbreeze 2.3) if they need to reboot their iOS device.
Sn0wbreeze 2.3 supports the following devices:
- iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS,
- iPod touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G
- iPad
Sn0wbreeze is available for Windows users. iPhone Dev Team is yet to release PwnageTool to jailbreak iOS 4.3 for Mac users. There is also no software solution to unlock iPhone 4 basebands – 02.10.04 (bundled with iOS 4.1), 03.10.01 (bundled with iOS 4.2.1), 04.10.01 (bundled with iOS 4.3) or iPhone 3GS basebands – 05.14.02 (bundled with iOS 4.1), baseband 05.15.04 (bundled with iOS 4.2.1) and baseband 05.16.00 (bundled with iOS 4.3).
We’ll let you know as soon as there is any further updates so stay tuned here at iPhone Hacks or join our Facebook Fan page or follow us on Twitter or subscribe to our RSS feed.
Please note that jailbreaking and unlocking your iOS device may void its warranty so proceed with caution and at your own risk. Please don’t forget to backup your iOS device before you proceed. You can refer to this post for instructions on how to backup your iOS device.
You can download Sn0wbreeze 2.3 beta 4 from iH8sn0w’s website.
As always, please let us know how it goes.
